UAE Cabinet launches ‘Government Policies’ Website and Mobile Application to enhance expertise of decision-makers and stakeholders in Federal Government

The UAE Cabinet, presided over by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, has today stood a moment of silence and recited prayers for the UAE service members who sacrificed their life during the Saudi-led coalition to restore peace and security in Yemen. The Cabinet has issued a statement in which it offers its condolences to the people of the UAE for the loss of its citizens.

The Cabinet has also sent condolences for those died in the construction crane collapse during a storm at Mecca's Grand Mosque in Saudi Arabia, praying to Allah to bless the souls of those who died and wishing speedy recovery for those injured. The Cabinet has sent its prayers for Allah to protect Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its people and all Muslims.

Meanwhile, the UAE Cabinet has launched "Government Policies" website and mobile application, the first of its kind tool dedicated to decision-makers and those engaged in government policies to exchange experiences and knowledge. The new website and mobile application also enables training and interaction on matters related to government work in the country.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum , UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai said that developing skills of government employees is a priority considering that enhanced skill levels are critical to the success of the government's efforts at all levels, serving as a cornerstone in government excellence.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed added "by launching the Government Policies website and mobile application, we aim to provide our employees with the tools needed to help develop their skills. Our employees are major contributors to our success, and the strategic partners who take forward our development plans."

The launch of the 'Government Policy' platform comes in line with the UAE government's goals to achieve smart transformation at all levels and build a knowledge-based economy. The new platform gathers 339 UAE leaders and senior government officials involved in policy making in various sectors. Its content includes 118 strategic studies and policy papers developed either internally or in collaboration with leading institutions and international organizations, such as The Economist and Nesta.

The website and mobile application include a number of sections such as 'Government Expertise', 'Your Professional Guide', and 'Ask an Expert'. The 'Government Expertise' section provides a selection of studies based on different sectors, prepared by federal entities in collaboration with leading think tanks and consulting firms. 'Your Professional Guide' section includes guidelines to support members of the network, build their capabilities and stimulate their creativity in the field of government policies.

The 'Ask an Expert' section allows users to network with a group of major consulting firms in various sectors to get the support of the best expertise for free. It also enables them to communicate with each other, and exchange knowledge and experiences to achieve an integrated government performance. The application also includes an innovative feature, 'Online Advdisor' which helps users to browse the content and find any information with ease. This feature enables users to search for the latest ideas and studies, or consult an expert, or use the appropriate tools in the preparation of policies, either through a general search option or through advanced search based on sectors.

On other hand, The UAE Cabinet has adopted a number of decrees on safeguarding public health in the country. It has adopted a decree on measures to be taken to implement the strategic medical plan, whereby the State would acquire the necessary strategic medical stockpiles to respond rapidly to emergencies and meet the needs. The strategic medical reserve is one of the basic components of the State's health security that makes it capable of responding rapidly to emergencies and contributes to ensuring the continuity of the community health services.

Following its UAE Vision 2021, the government is keen to provide state-of-the-art health services. Thus, safeguarding public health is one of the priorities of the UAE Government, and therefore, the Cabinet has endorsed a number of measures to protect public health and control communicable diseases in cooperation between federal and local relevant entities. The World Health Organization indicates that the UAE has one of the lowest rates of contagious infections and its related deaths.

Meanwhile, the Cabinet issued a decree on conditions and regulations for the GCC citizens to own private health and pharmaceutical facilities. It aims to encourage investments within the Gulf region and strengthen the health sector system in the UAE.

On another topic, the Cabinet has approved the UAE ratifying the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography. The United Arab Emirates has an integrated child protection system that includes laws to protect and cater for the needs of children.

The Cabinet has reviewed and approved recommendations submitted by the Federal National Council on regulating labour market. Pertaining to organizational matters, the Cabinet has approved the re-organization of The Board of Trustees of the Higher Colleges of Technology to be chaired by H.E. Mohamad Omran Al Shamsi

Chairman of the Board. It also approved re-organizing the Higher Committee of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Smart Learning Programme to be chaired by The Minister of Education. Membership of the Federal Council for Educational Coordination and Integration and chaired by the Minister of Education.

On the international level, the Cabinet approved inaugurating a consulate of the UAE in Gwang Ju of China as the UAE pursues foreign policy to build and boost friendly ties with countries as well as position itself globally. In addition, the Cabinet ratified a number of international agreements to boost cooperation with other countries such as customs cooperation with Holland and other air transport services with Jamaica and Burkina Faso.

The UAE Cabinet held its meeting at the Presidential Palace and was attended by His Highness Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs.

UAE Cabinet Statement on the UAE Martyrs

The UAE Cabinet has today issued a statement offering its condolences for the UAE soldiers who lost their lives in Yemen during their participation in Saudi-led coalition known as "Restoring Hope" operation. Statement said:

"With profound sorrow, we offer our condolences to the people of the UAE for the soldiers who sacrificed their lives, making a new history for the country. We pray to Allah to accept them among the martyrs and grant the people of UAE patience.

The UAE Cabinet underscores the positive spirit spiraling around the country, determination, victory and sacrifice as well as unity with the leaders. These days will be remembered forever among forthcoming generations, the UAE march as well as its future.

The Cabinet stresses that we witnessing turning points in our march that will unify feelings, change thinking and introduce a new mechanism towers national work that is based on sacrifice for the sake of the UAE. The Emirati people have proved that they will not spare no effort to sacrifice for the sake of the nation, supporting justice and its leadership.

The statement underscored that the loss of the soldiers will not be in vain. Their sacrifice will be in the hearts and minds of the people of the UAE and a sign of its proud history. Their martyrdom will strengthen our determination to continue what we started to restore justice and hope in Yemen.

Yemen will be a strategic cornerstone for the Gulf Cooperation Countries and the first defence line against external interference and an indispensable component of our GCC security. Defending Yemen and restoring legitimacy and stability is therefore safeguarding the safety and achievements of the GCC countries.

The UAE is committed to stand by its brothers to restore peace and security in Arab region, especially Yemen. It will exert all means to move forward to achieve the goals and support United Nations' effort to ensure peace is prevailed.
