UAE, Uzbekistan strengthen strategic partnership

The UAE received a senior government delegation from Uzbekistan, which was led by Aziz Abdukhakimov, Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, and included over 60 officials from key departments and ministries, with the aim of strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries.

The partnership includes the launch, in 2019, of 57 initiatives related to government performance and modernisation and the UAE government’s working model, which will enable Uzbekistan to benefit from the relevant expertise of Emirati government authorities.

The visit aims to implement a previous partnership agreement to improve services and institutional performance and train future leaders, through sharing appropriate Emirati working models.

Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and the Future, said, "The UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and as per the directives of the His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, has become a global centre of government modernisation.

Its expertise in government modernisation supports its position and enhances its reputation as a capital of administrative development." "The UAE government model is exportable, and we are working with a group of friendly countries that wish to adopt it," Al Gergawi added.

The visit of the Uzbek delegation, which included representatives of the social, economic, services, health, education, science, transportation, tourism and investment sectors took place less than a month after the signing of the strategic partnership between the governments of the UAE and Uzbekistan.

The delegation visited several UAE government authorities, held joint meetings and workshops on issues of mutual interest, and adopted the partnership’s 17 axes, including the launch of the 57 initiatives.
