UAE President issues federal laws

President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has issued a federal law no.13 of 2016 on legal fees for federal courts, which will apply to all lawsuits, appeals and requests submitted to federal courts after the law takes effect.

The law was published in the recent issue of the federal official gazette. According to the law, a lawsuit, appeal or request will be registered only after the due fees have fully been paid, unless a law or decision on full or partial exemption or postponement of fees has been issued.

The law stipulates that the Minister of Justice will have the right to exempt from full or partial fees if it is proved that the party to pay such fees is insolvent.
