The UAE Centennial 2071, launched by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, is a long-term vision that spans five decades and represents a clear roadmap for government work to promote the UAE’s reputation and soft power.
The UAE Centennial 2071 Plan aims to invest in future generations and equip them with the skills and knowledge needed to keep pace with the global rapid changes in order to make the UAE the best country in the world by its centennial in 2071.
Pillars of UAE Centennial Plan 2071
The UAE Centennial 2071 is based on four main pillars, namely:
Future-focused government: A government with a long-term vision that seeks to achieve social prosperity and spread positive messages to the world. It adopts the best experiences and practices derived from a national strategy to enhance the UAE’s soft power and provide new and diverse sources of sustainable government non-oil revenues and investment capabilities. It further develops a mechanism to monitor variables in different sectors.
Excellent education: Teaching advanced sciences and technology, space science, engineering, innovation and health sciences, while focusing on moral values and positive attitudes to enhance the professionalism of educational institutions. Shedding lights on the experiences of developed countries and developing mechanisms for discovering students’ individual talents early. Educational institutions are encouraged to be incubators of entrepreneurship and innovation and act as international research centers.
A diversified knowledge economy: Building a competitive economy to become one of the best economies worldwide by increasing productivity of national economy, supporting national companies, investing in scientific research and promising sectors, focusing on innovation, entrepreneurship and advanced industries, developing a national strategy to shape the future of the UAE’s economy and industry and place the UAE among the leading global economies. Knowledge economy can be secured through enabling a generation of UAE inventors and scientists and supporting them in technical sciences. It is vital to coordinate with developed countries to enhance the skills of Emiratis and provide them with a new work culture. Advanced national products and services should be exported worldwide through specialized and intensive programs, and leading Emirati companies’ should be supported and promoted.

The UAE Centennial 2071 plan was based on the historic lecture given by H. H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, in which he spoke about the strategies to prepare the UAE for future generations, ensuring sustainable development and embracing happiness and positivity.
