UAE Model for Government Leadership

The Cabinet has approved the UAE Model for Government Leadership, which is based on three tenets, including leadership spirit, future outlook, accomplishment and influence. The model highlights the criteria required for the second generation of the 21st century leaders, which was launched by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in 2015, to strengthen the efforts of UAE government to keep pace with international approaches in government work. The model aims to precede future changes and achieve the goals of the UAE Centennial 2071 strategy. Speaking during the graduation of the 4th and 5th batch of the Executive Leadership Programme, Shaikh Mohammad said: “We approved the UAE Model for Government Leadership as a new addition to the government efforts to prepare leaders and build capabilities of cadres and national competencies.” The graduation ceremony was attended by Lieutenant-General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs. Addressing graduates, Shaikh Mohammad said: “The Leadership in government work is not about titles or positions, but about continuous development and efficiency, as well as looking ahead and being proactive in facing challenges. We are proud of the graduation of 1,000 leaders, and we expect quality addition from you in our development journey.” “We want to develop government work process to be in line with our efforts in building future governments. The UAE journey towards the future requires continuous development efforts that focus on UAE nationals, build their capabilities, enhance their skills, and equip them with the right tools to face the future challenges,” he added. “The UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and follow up of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, is investing in its citizens and providing all what it takes to ensure their success,” the Vice-President said. He highlighted importance of the role of Emirati citizens in the development of the country. “We want to maintain this momentum and increase it to achieve the UAE Visions 2021, and the UAE Centennial 2071 strategy.” Shaikh Mohammad urged the graduates, who constitute a main driver for the decision-making process in government, to apply what the knowledge and expertise they have acquired in government entities. “We want the graduated leaders to be a source of inspiration and motivate government staff to be dedicated, adopt a clear vision and have the ability to adapt to the latest and face up with challenges,” he concluded.
