Cabinet General Secretariat trains officials on government policies' implementation
A series of workshops were designed and implemented by the General Secretariat of the Cabinet, where more than 160 federal government officials were trained on the various stages and aspects of creating, and presenting government policies, federal legislations, and international agreements to the UAE Cabinet. These workshops aimed to increase the effectiveness of the policies, projects, and legislations that are created and implemented in the UAE and ensure that policies are in line with the strategic vision of the country and directly improve the quality of life for its citizens. The workshops were not limited to technical aspects but also included sessions on holistic/complementary/supportive topics such as Government Communication that enhance the implementation of policies, projects, and legislations and ensure they reach their audience. Abdullah bin Touq, Secretary General of the UAE Cabinet at the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs and the Future, said, "These workshops were developed to enhance the abilities and skills of officials across the government and enable them to ideate, prepare, and present policies, projects and legislations that add value, enhance quality of living, and ensure the development of a strong responsive legislative infrastructure that is able to support the growth of the various sectors within the UAE and encourage the growth of future sectors in line with UAE Vision 2021.'' A central theme in the workshops was the constant drive to improve the creation process and the results of government legislations, and to create and maintain an environment that supports new ideas that will add value to the country. Participants experimented with innovative concepts and flexible legislative tools that support the creation, testing, and implementation of new and pioneering initiatives and legislations. The workshops examined the various stages in the process of policy development from ideation up to evaluating outcomes. Participants examined the steps of policy development and, the various models that can be used to present a new policy to the UAE Cabinet. They also learned about the behind-the-scenes process that the General Secretariat of the cabinet follows to manage the timely implementation of cabinet decisions. The workshops also included a section on the importance and practicalities of communicating government policies to national and international audiences proactively.
