The UAE Ministry of Community Development will soon randomly survey 1,000 children aging between three and five years in all parts of the UAE for the early detection of autism, a ministry official has revealed. Wafa Hamad bin Sulaiman, head of department of disabled rehabilitation and care – Ministry of Community Development, has said that her ministry plans to turn all its autism centres into special integrated units equipped with special autism equipment. Talks are underway between the ministry and local universities to launch new autism-related majors, she added.
