Shamma Al Mazrui stresses UAE leadership’s Support to Emirati Youth, urges Community Engagement

Her Excellency Shamma bint Sohail Faris Al Mazrui, Minister of State for Youth, visited the United Arab Emirates University in Al Ain (UAEU) as part of her field visits to meet the UAE's youth, and listen to their ideas and aspirations related to the youth sector and its development.

During the visit, H.E. Al Mazrui was accompanied by Dr. Ali Al Nuaimi, Vice Chancellor of UAEU, and was briefed on the educational and training facilities offered by the university. Members of the Emirates Youth Council were also present.

The visit included a meeting with the President and members of the Students Council at the university, members of the Organizers Club, in addition to a number of students of the Faculty of Political Science. H.E. Al Mazrui was also briefed on the initiatives and activities of the Students Council.

During her meeting with The United Arab Emirates University, H.E. Shamma Al Mazrui said: “The UAE and its leadership consider education sector a high priority, and we see a massive support to this sector and emphasizing its importance in every occasion. Investing in Emirati Youth is a cornerstone for development and progress and which eventually requires from us, as youth, to exert our utmost effort to serve our nation.”

H.E. Al Mazrui added: “Our wise leadership support the youth and listen to them, and want them to become significant participants in the development of the nation, as is reflected in the announcement of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to introduce a Minister of State for Youth in the Cabinet.

H.E. Shamma Al Mazrui also said: “The appointment of the Minister of State for Youth means that the minister should represent the youth and listen to them, and become the voice of their aspirations before the leadership. This can be achieved only by reaching out to them and listening to them and represent youth to the leadership.”

H.E. Al Mazrui maintained: “I recall a quote from the father of our nation, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, during the founding of The United Arab Emirates University in 1976, when he said: ‘The United Arab Emirates University has today become a beacon of science, culture and heritage in the UAE and the region.’ I was therefore keen to visit this cultural and educational platform as part of my field visits to meet the students.

She added:“ The United Arab Emirates University witnessed great achievements and contributed to the growth of the nation over the decades. The university produced several outstanding personalities, who are playing significant roles in the country’s development.”
