Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority launches Youth Council

The Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority announced today the launch of a Youth Council, which will act as its executive arm to deal with issues related to the youth in the country, and the investment of their capabilities to support the journey of the authority in achieving its vision.

The council will work on opening new horizons to discuss visions and ideas supporting the competitiveness of the country, and achieving its vision of creating a pioneering model to build human resources, country and sustainable development.

One of the most prominent tasks of the council is co-ordination with institutions concerned with youth affairs in the country, such as the office of the Minister of State for Youth Affairs and other governmental and private sector authorities in the country, and any authority that wants to execute programmes, initiatives or activities related to the youth.

The council includes in its membership the citizen-employees of the authority, aged 21 to 30 years old, who have exceptional personalities, a passion for youth issues, good morals and team spirit.

Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation, the Chairperson of the Board of the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority, welcomed the establishment of the Youth Council.

"During his visit to the authority’s headquarters recently, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum met several members of the Youth Council in the authority and praised their performance and dedication to their work and responsibilities. I look forward to the contributions of the Youth Council in achieving the mission of the authority and conveying its message successfully. I wish them good luck," Al Hashemi said.

Shamma bint Sohail Faris Al Mazrui, Minister of State for Youth Affairs, expressed happiness over the creation of the Youth Council, which was launched after the establishment of the Office of the Ministry of Youth Affairs, pointing out that there was a large amount of creative energy among young employees.

"Our youth today need a work environment capable of grasping their thirst for innovation, creativity and work. The Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority’s step to establish the Youth Council will undoubtedly contribute in enabling the authority to transform the creative energies of the youth and their thoughts into real projects and initiatives that serve the country and citizens."

Abdulla Nasser Lootah, Director-General of the Authority, stressed that the attention given to the UAE’s youth and their ambitions was one of the priorities of the wise leadership, as they are the cornerstone of the nation, its renewable energy, and its constant engine for innovation and development.

The establishment of the Youth Council is a confirmation of the leadership’s trust in the youth, he added.
