Government Communication Office launches '60-minute Communications' to keep abreast of latest trends
The Government Communication Office has launched the "60-minute Communications" initiative, aimed at improving the skills and knowledge of government communications teams across the Federal Government and keeping them up-to-date with the latest government communication trends through a series of meetings with experts in the field.
More than 50 representatives of the Federal Government's communications teams participated in the first session of the programme, entitled "Government Communication in the Era of the Digital Economy," presented by Dr. Yassar Jarrar, President of the Open Data Institute and Chairman of the Council for the Future of Governments at the World Economic Forum.
Regarding the programme, Khadija Hussain Abdullah, Executive Director of the Government Communication Office at General Secretariat to the Cabinet at the Ministry of the Cabinet Affairs and the Future, said, "The launch of the ‘60-minute Communications’ initiative comes within the framework of our continuous improvement of the government communications system at the federal level. Through this initiative, we aim to host experts to discuss new and important topics in an innovative, practical and simplified manner."
The first session focused on the role of government communications in the era of the digital economy and the current trends of government communications, in which the traditional means of communicating are being replaced by the new tools of the digital age, such as websites, smart applications and social networking sites, which radically change the communication mechanism between the government and the public.
Regular meetings will be held periodically, in line with the objectives of the Government Communication Strategy 2017-2021. Five objectives and priorities for government communications were identified until 2021, which include supporting the objectives of the National Agenda and the UAE Vision 2021, enhancing the coordination of communications between the government and all sectors, leading an innovative and effective management of the government's image on various communication platforms, instilling patriotic values and enhancing ties with media outlets.
