Hazza bin Zayed approves Emirates ID's strategic plan 2017-2021

H.H. Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, and Chairman of the Emirates Identity Authority (Emirates ID), has approved the new strategic plan for the Emirates ID from 2017 to 2012.

The new plan is in keeping with the vision to develop a smart ID card with features that will facilitate people to access all the services provided by the public as well as the private sector. These include electronic and smart services.

Sheikh Hazza said the world class Population Register, created by Emirates ID, constitutes a comprehensive, accurate and reliable written and biometric demographic data base that will include details of anyone living in the UAE, contributes to developing the government work and improving services provided to clients.

The Register, he stated, also provides information to decision-makers to help achieve the leadership's vision to position the UAE among the best countries in the world.

Sheikh Hazza was speaking during the second meeting of the Emirates ID's board of directors for 2016 which reviewed the achievements attained through the 2014-2016 strategy and its contribution to developmental plans of different government sectors and how these helped make a transition into a smart government as well as delivered services to individuals and establishments in compliance with the UAE Vision 2021.

Sheikh Hazza instructed the Emirates ID to develop the ID card's e-applications so as to facilitate transactions of clients and to pay more attention to accuracy of data in the population register and other strategic projects, including the e-link.

Saeed Abdullah Ghafli, Director-General of Emirates ID, gave a detailed presentation on the 2017-2021 strategy whose guidelines were drawn from the UAE Vision 2021 which seeks to make the UAE one of the best countries in the world by the time it celebrates its gold jubilee.

The board approved the strategic plan and its estimated budget for the next five years. It heard a report on the pace of implementation of the 2016 budget and discussed other items on the agenda of the meeting.

H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of the Interior, and Deputy Chairman of Emirates ID, and other members of the board attended the meeting.
