HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid honors Queen Rania, IMF Managing Director

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, conferred Mohammed Bin Rashid Woman’s Medal on Christine Lagarde, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and Queen Rania Al Abdullah, wife of the King of Jordan. During the official inaugural ceremony of the Global Women’s Forum, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, presented the medal to Queen Rania and Christine Lagarde. Addressing over 2,000 international delegates on the first day of the Forum in Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, called for an active role for women in the country.

Meanwhile, HE Dr. Amal al-Qubaisi, Chairperson of the UAE Federal National Council, praised the leading role played by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, as well as his long-term vision for the country. HE Reem al-Hashimi, Minister of State for International Cooperation, said the UAE will ensure sustainable growth in various sectors in line with the UAE National Agenda. HE Al-Hashimi's stated this during a discussion session held on the sidelines of the Forum. HE Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, President of Mauritius, said the turning point of her life happened when she left the academic field and moved to the world of business.
