Ministerial Development Council discuss creating friendly environment for people of determination
H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, highlighted the vital role of People of Determination in the community. "The UAE is a friendly country for people of determination. We appreciate their role in the community, and we are always keen to create a friendly environment to ensure their contributions, as well as the happiness of the country. Therefore, we discussed the "Emirates Code for an Eligible Environment," as part of our united efforts to create the best environment for People of Determination in the world," he said. Sheikh Mansour made this statement while chairing a meeting of the Ministerial Development Council. During the meeting, which was held in Abu Dhabi, the council presented many initiatives and public policies, including the restructuring of the Judicial Coordination Council, the Higher Education and Scientific Research Coordination Council, and the Supreme Committee Supervising the Mohammed bin Rashid Smart Learning Programme. The meeting discussed the code, which is based on articles 22, 23, 24, 25 of Federal Law No. 29 for 2006 regarding the rights of such people, with the aim of unifying their experiences in an appropriate environment, by adopting public facilities and services for them, strengthening relevant partnerships, and integrating local and federal policies. The code is in line with the Federal Government’s strategy, the UAE Vision 2021, and the goal of the National Agenda to maintain a cohesive community, through providing a comprehensive environment that integrates all segments of the community. The code aims to empower people with disabilities to live independently and participate in all aspects of life, as it will ensure that they can meet their potential and are equal with others. The meeting discussed the resumption of the Judicial Coordination Council, as well as the Higher Education and Scientific Research Coordination Council for two years starting on 04/09/2018, and the Supreme Committee Supervising the Mohammed bin Rashid Smart Learning Programme for three years, chaired by the Minister of Education. The meeting also discussed the drafting of a federal law for health insurance that is compatible with local laws, which will ensure that the country’s health system complies with international standards and provides a long and healthy life for all Emirati citizens, based on the UAE Vision 2021. The Council also discussed other issues on the agenda.
