Ministerial Development Council discusses policy to back national industries

07.09.2016

The Ministerial Development Council on Tuesday held a meeting at the Presidential Palace to discuss the development of a scheme for supporting national industries.

The meeting was chaired by H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of the Ministerial Services Council.

The proposed national policy seeks to back and promote national companies, products and services that meet national quality standards.

The aim is to bolster the competitiveness of Emirati products and services in the region and the world with a proposed standardised national quality mark.

The policy is expected to have a positive impact on the UAE's economy and its international economic and social ratings.

As a prerequisite, the use of the quality mark can be licenced only after the products and services meet the standards set by the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology.

During the meeting, the council discussed a number of other issues.
