The 1,000 principals will include regional managers, their assistants, school principals and their assistants, as well as department managers.
Under this initiative, 1,290 teachers and education experts, working with local and international educational institutions, will conduct this pilot training programme.
The experts will come from the Court of the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, the McGraw Hill Foundation for Sciences and Mathematics, Cambridge University, Pearson Company, Intellectual Property Rights Department of Dubai Customs and the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments.
The training will be undertaken at 50 locations spread across various educational sectors, in co-operation with different government agencies that have partnered with the Ministry of Education.
These include University of Sharjah, Al Qasimia University and UNESCO, in addition to the Teachers Training Institute, the Ministry of Education’s training centres and government schools and nurseries.
Marwan Al Sawaleh, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Academic Affairs, affirmed that the programme was in line with the UAE Vision 2021 to elevate its educational system so that the country emerges as an international and regional model in this domain.
The programme, he added, was part of the Ministry of Education’s strategy to develop curricula and enhance capacity building in academia.
Highlighting the benefits that this training programme will yield, Al Sawaleh said it will ensure better teaching practices and develop teachers’ skills on a regular basis by implementing new teaching mechanisms and using advanced technologies in teaching.
Such training programmes help keep pace with modernity, in view of the major changes in the role of teachers who, apart from being a source of knowledge, also need to inspire their students using a variety of skills and teaching methods.
