Mohamed bin Zayed issues two resolutions on General Secretariat of Executive Council

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Chairman of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, has issued two resolutions on the General Secretariat of the Executive Council and establishing the Office of the Executive Committee.

The first resolution states that the General Secretariat of the Executive Council is the administrative body entrusted with the preparations for the meetings of the Executive Council, arranging the agenda, lectures and keeping all documents. The Secretary General will supervise the work of the Secretariat and be responsible for its actions before the Executive Council. The Secretariat General will have a director-general to be appointed by the chairman of the Executive Council.

The resolution refers to the terms of reference of the Secretariat, including the receipt of applications and issues submitted to the Executive Council, in light of the terms of reference set forth in this resolution. The secretariat will also provide technical support to the Executive Council, with regard to its terms of reference. It will provide special support regarding the affairs of the members of the Executive Council, and support the Secretary General in the presentation of topics to the Executive Council, as it makes appropriate decisions.

The resolution also states that the General Secretariat will follow up the performance of the Executive Council committees and submit periodic reports in this respect, in addition to its role in regulating the communication channels of the Executive Council within its terms of reference.

Under this resolution, the General Secretariat will manage the Abu Dhabi Award for Excellence in Government Performance. It will also prepare and follow-up policy and strategy of the Government Communication, and support government agencies in their implementation to ensure the preservation of the identity of the emirate and oversee ceremonies and diplomatic affairs, in coordination with local and federal competent authorities and other stakeholders.

The Secretariat General will also provide legal support through the legal opinion about topics before the Executive Council, to review local and federal draft laws, resolutions and regulations, and agreements prior to their approval by the Executive Council. It will also prepare and issue the Official Gazette of the Emirate.

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed also issued the second resolution setting up the Executive Committee office. It reports to the Executive Council and is headed by the Chairman of the Executive Committee. The chairman will be appointed by the office of the Director-General, while his allowances will be decided by the resolution from the Chairman of the Executive Council.
