New appointments approved by Mohammad
His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has ordered the promotion and appointment of seven senior officials at the Executive Office.
The new promotions and appointments were announced yesterday (Tuesday) by Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and the Future and chairman of Shaikh Mohammad’s Executive Office.
Abdullah Mohammad Saeed Bin Touq has been appointed director-general of the Executive Office, while Saeed Mohammad Al Ittr Al Dhanhani will be the director-general of General Diplomacy at the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs and the Future.
Shaikh Mohammad appointed four assistants to the director-general of the Cabinet Office, including Huda Al Hashemi as assistant to the director-general for Strategy and Innovation.
Hessa Eisa Bu Humaid will hold the post of e assistant to the director-general for Government Services and Leadership, while Mariam Al Hammadi will be the assistant to the director-general for Government Performance and Excellence. Mohammad Bin Taleea will be the assistant to the director-general for Support Services.
Shaikh Mohammad also appointed Atraf Shehab as director of the Future Department at the Cabinet Office.
Al Gergawi said the new appointments are in line with the directives of Shaikh Mohammad to move a new group of young national leaders to higher positions of responsibility after they gained the leadership’s trust. The newly appointed officials have proved their outstanding capacity and excellent skills in managing and developing a number of strategic government projects.
‘We are heading to a new phase of government work and national responsibilities that will be shouldered by young national cadres who have the trust of our leadership,” Al Gergawi said.
He said Shaikh Mohammad has always stressed the importance of building young cadres through leadership programmes and the need to continue investing in national human resources by training them under the supervision of international experts.
Bin Touq, the newly appointed director-general of the Executive Office is a graduate from the UAE Government Leaders Programme, which was launched by Shaikh Mohammad last year, and is designed by the UAE government to achieve a quantum leap in young capacity building.
He joined the Cabinet Office in 2007 and earned a bachelor’s in Civil Engineering from the University of Sheffield in UK. He held several posts in the Cabinet Office, and supervised the Government Leadership Programme and Shaikh Khalifa Government Excellence Programme.
Saeed Mohammad Al Dhanhani, the new director-general of the Diplomacy Office launched and managed many strategic projects. He established the Government Communication Office and contributed to developing the general communication strategy in the federal government from 2008-2011. He supervised the establishment, launch and managing of the system of spokespersons of the federal government. Al Dhanhani supervised the launch of a media briefing system at the federal government and the setting up of the government communication network. He earned a bachelor’s in telecommunications engineering from Khalifa University, and is also a graduate from the Mohammad Bin Rashid Programme for Leadership Development. Al Dhanhani worked as a telecommunications engineer at etisalat before joining the Cabinet Office.
Huda Al Hashemi, the newly appointed assistant to the director-general for Strategy and Innovation, is currently supervising the strategy and policy sector involved in drawing up and implementing the UAE Vision 2021. She is also in the team tasked with developing government policies that help meet the UAE vision.
Al Hashemi is supervising the Mohammad Bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation to encourage and motivate innovation in the public sector by making available tools essential to develop organisational structures and procedures.
Hessa Eisa, assistant to the director-general for Government Services and Leadership supervises the development of government services.
