UAE Cabinet endorses a decree to grant the citizens of the Russian Federation a visa upon arrival at all entry points to the United Arab Emirates

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, approved Cabinet decree number (24) for 2017 on granting the citizens of the Russian Federation an entry visa at all entry points to the United Arab Emirates.

The decree states that citizens of the Russian Federation are granted an entry visa upon arrival at all entry points to the United Arab Emirates for 30 days for the first time and renewable for one time only for another 30 days as per the UAE regulations.

This decree would enhance strategic cooperation and the common ambitions of the two countries. It would also create new horizons of economic and touristic cooperation serving the common interests and goals as it strengthen the UAE’s international competitiveness as a vibrant economic, commercial, and touristic hub in the region.

 

Strong Strategic Ties

Russia and the United Arab Emirates have always cherished a strong bilateral relationship in all aspects. This can be perceived through the strategic partnerships between the two countries, the various agreements covering economy, tourism, and clean energy cooperation. The United Arab Emirates ranks first in the GCC states as Russia’s most important business partner, and the UAE is considered the tenth largest foreign investor in Russia with projects of 66 Billion Dirhams by 2014.

During the year 2015, the non- oil trade between the UAE and Russia reached 9 Billion Dirhams, whereas the UAE is investing around 18 Billion Dirhams in investments in infra structures in Russia. The average growth of foreign non-oil trade between the UAE and Russia in the past 5 years is 31%

As for tourism, the UAE received in the past two years more than 600,000 Russian tourists, and the number of weekly flights between the two countries is 56 flights by the UAE National carriers. This number is expected to rise upon the issuance of the decree and its positive impact on the trade and tourism.
